What TubeBlock does

Channels

Block a channel. It's gone.

A regular YouTube account has no block button for channels, only "Don't recommend channel", which shows the channel less in recommendations; its videos can still turn up in search. TubeBlock adds a Block channel button to video cards and channel pages. One click and the channel disappears from Home, search results, Up next and Subscriptions.

Keywords

Hide videos by word or phrase

Add words like "prank", "spoiler" or a topic you are tired of. TubeBlock hides videos whose title or channel name contains them, wherever YouTube lists videos. Turn on whole-word matching when a short word would catch too much.

Shorts

Turn the Shorts shelves off

YouTube can show you fewer Shorts, but it has no switch to turn them off. With TubeBlock one switch keeps Shorts shelves and Shorts cards out of Home, search and Subscriptions until you switch it off again.

Get TubeBlock

Your feed, your rules

TubeBlock is a small, single-purpose tool. Here is exactly what it does with your data, and what it does not.

  • No account

No sign-up, no e-mail, no login. Try the demo while we prepare the first release. It does not touch your Google account.

  • Data stays in your browser

Blocked channels, keywords and switches are saved in your browser's extension storage. We never receive them. The extension has no analytics and no tracking.

  • Open about permissions

It asks for two things: storage for your lists and access to www.youtube.com to hide cards. What each permission means.

Questions

Is TubeBlock free?

Yes. The planned first release is free. We do not charge for anything, see the refund policy.

Do I need an account?

No. TubeBlock has no accounts at all. You do not need to be signed in to YouTube either, although it works the same when you are.

Which browsers does it work in?

Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave and Opera on a computer. A Chrome Web Store release is coming soon for Chrome and compatible desktop browsers.

Does it work on my phone or TV?

No. TubeBlock is a browser extension, so it does not work in the YouTube apps for iPhone, iPad or Android, on smart TVs, in YouTube TV or in the YouTube Kids app. It works on youtube.com in a desktop browser.

Will the channels I block find out?

No. Blocking happens only on your screen: TubeBlock hides cards in your browser and sends nothing to YouTube or to the channel.
